I’ve always been drawn to how complex human systems find direction — how teams, companies, and entire industries build the rhythm that allows them to move together.

Hanna MaehlenToday, I work with CEOs and founders whose organizations have reached the point where growth is no longer limited by ambition—but by the leadership system that holds everything together.

As companies scale past 50–100 employees, the informal ways of working that once fueled early success begin to strain. Responsibilities begin to overlap. Priorities compete. Teams work hard but not always in the same direction. The CEO becomes the integrator of all decisions, context, and alignment—which is neither sustainable nor scalable.

This isn’t a failure of leadership. It’s a structural threshold every growing organization eventually reaches.

My Work

I help organizations cross that threshold by designing the leadership system that makes performance repeatable at scale.

That system includes:

  • organizational design and leadership layers
  • decision-making and coordination pathways
  • communication rhythms
  • expectations and leadership behaviors
  • the human energy required to sustain momentum during growth

When these elements reinforce each other, organizations gain direction, cohesion, and the ability to execute without relying on the CEO or founder team to pull everything together.

My Background

My work spans Europe and the US across industries—from high-growth tech to healthcare to AI-enabled organizations. I’ve built leadership systems, designed new organizational structures, shaped executive teams, and guided companies through complex strategic transitions.

Examples include:

  • As CPO for a European/US technology scale-up, I led the creation of the company’s first leadership system: organizational redesign, leadership expectations, decision pathways, and operating rhythms across 100+ people and multiple locations.
  • In US healthcare, I conceived and launched the Autonomous Pharmacy Advisory Board—now a national framework uniting healthcare leaders around automation and patient safety across more than 100 health systems.
  • I advise CEOs across Europe, the US, and the UK on leadership, organizational structure, and strategic execution.

I bring a combination of structural thinking, human understanding, and transformational speed. My role is to build the systems that allow leaders and teams to perform together—not through unsustainable heroic effort, but through design.

How I Work

Every engagement begins with diagnosing the structural, behavioral, and operational patterns shaping performance. From there, I design the system that fits the organization’s ambition—and I work closely with leaders as they adopt and practice it.

My approach is both rigorous and deeply human. Leaders feel seen, supported, and challenged; teams gain shared direction and a renewed sense of momentum; the organization becomes capable of its next stage.

My Philosophy

Organizations don’t scale because people work harder.
They scale because the leadership system evolves—bringing structure to complexity, coherence to decision-making, and rhythm to execution.

My job is to design that system and help leaders grow within it.
